Over the course of the past year, we did a Book study titled “Sabbath” by Wayne
Muller. This was a very enlightening and eye opening study on the real meaning
of Sabbath/rest. It reminded us that we ought to take time away from life’s
hustle and bustle. The Bible gives us several examples of how Jesus exemplifies
the different aspects of rest: physical rest, spiritual rest and mental or emotional
rest. As a result of that study our theme for 2019 was The Joy of Sabbath. I pray
that we will all listen when that still small voice of God is calling us to bask in Him
and endeavor to include and enjoy physical, spiritual, and mental rest.
We kicked off our 2nd Anniversary Celebration on Friday, June 29, with a time of
worship, prayer, fellowship, and communion. During our time of fellowship, we
put together 30 packages for Providence House, a shelter for women of domestic
violence, which is part of Catholic Charities, in Burlington County, NJ. On
Saturday, we had our Prayer Luncheon. Our leader, Rev. Victoria Williams-Faux
was the main speaker. After the luncheon, the group went on a social outing to
Grounds of Sculpture in Trenton, NJ. The celebration culminated with our
Thanksgiving Service on Sunday which was held at Trinity United Methodist
Church in Bordentown, New Jersey, and the Guest Preacher was
Rev. Pansy Alexander.
Our thanks go to everyone that supported us for the Luncheon and Thanksgiving
Service. You took time from your busy schedules, to travel from far and near, to
join us in celebrating God’s goodness and mercy on our second anniversary. May
God bless you all!
Stay tuned for details of next year’s event as we celebrate the 3rd Anniversary of
the Women's Prayer Circle. More information to come.
